I have been in the health food industry for 18 years. I have a background as a herbalist and massage therapist.
After spending three years counselling people on health, and working as both a massage therapist and assistant
instructor of massage, I decided to buy a health food store to try and help people to sort through the maze of
health information. When my wife Tamara and I decided to get a dog of our own the research began into their
health. We were shocked at the poor health of dogs and cats. Most of what they suffered from is all diet related
in humans, so we look at what they were being feed. To our surprise it was even worse than what we had
thought. So I asked Tamara if she could find some good food to feed our dog. She researched and found several
great companies that were health minded. I approached Tamara with the idea of a whole store dedicated to the
health of pets. I have four vitamin stores for humans, and I thought it was now time to start the pet revolution.
She thought it was a great idea and she created Tail Blazers. It is a new industry that will parallel the human
health food industry but it will move much faster.
Twenty years ago health food stores were owned by Mom and Pop's, and hippies. Now those Mom and pop's
own several much bigger stores and some are even big corporate entities like Wild Oats in the US. In the 80's
the concept of better health through nutrition was very new and a hard sell. Now the concept is common place.
The general populations awareness has changed so now even regular grocery chains carry health food and it is
a leading area of growth. As the public becomes aware of how bad the basic nutrition given to our pets is, the
move to Health food stores for pets will be very fast compared to that of the human health food stores. Add to
this the fact that the human health food stores will not be able to properly service this emerging need, there will
be a whole new industry (Health Food Stores for Pets) created. I love my pets and I will do anything for them
and when I look at all the pets out there and how we (their guardians) are feeding them, well to put it simply
Tamara and I are dedicated to changing as many dogs and cats lives as possible. The way I want to do this is
by opening up as many Tail Blazers stores as possible. I have a business format that has been developing for
over fourteen years and is easy to teach and to follow. We have seen the shift in peoples awareness here and
we want to help that shift everywhere in North America. There is so much information out there now there is no
stopping this change in peoples awareness. I always use the example of Columbus finding America. Once he did
it was impossible to stop people from realizing the world was not flat. Pet food is a billion dollar industry and
right now 98% of the players think the world is flat. But Science has discovered America and it will show how
bad those current food companies are and why there is need for a change. The Health Food Stores for pets will
spread the news and reap the rewards while changing the way our pets live and eat. My goal is to bring great
nutrition back into our pets lives by educating their guardians.
Tamara's idea of the future is to open a Tail Blazers Rescue Ranch. She wants to be able to help animals in need. First by providing them with proper nutrition, then by training and finding them good homes. We have
made contact with a like minded vet and the two of them are busy planning how many ways they can make a
difference. Tamara and I are very excited by the knowledge that the way our companion animals live there lives
is about to change. We want to contribute to them like they have given to us. This is going to be a fun industry
creating many changes in our pets lives.
Natural pet health is an endlessly fascinating industry. It is so incredibly rewarding to see the dramatic changes and transformations in so many pets on a daily basis, after making some necessary adjustments.
