Whitefish meal is the clean, rendered, dried ground tissue of undecomposed whitefish or whitefish cuttings, either or both, with or without the extraction of part of the oil. (AAFCO, 2003) Whitefish meal is a good source of protein for dry pet food, though because it is rendered, its essential fatty acid content will be reduced. See Whitefish.
