Vegetable oil is an oil of vegetable origin obtained by extracting the oil from seeds or fruits which are processed for edible purposes. (AAFCO, 2003) Because vegetable oil is a non-specific ingredient, it is recommended to get foods where the source of the oil is listed such as safflower oil or flax oil.
