Salmon fishmeal is the clean, rendered, dried ground tissue of undecomposed salmon or salmon cuttings, either or both, with or without the extraction of part of the oil. (AAFCO, 2003) Salmon meal is a good source of protein for dry pet food, though because it is rendered, its essential fatty acid content will be reduced.
